Description

As the world is becoming more urbanized and cities of the future need to be people-centered, robust evidence-based knowledge on the underlying biological and psychological processes, by which Urban Planning & Design influence brain circuits and human behaviour, will be critical for policy making on urban health. Emotions are key drivers of our decisions; similarly, our choices are the conduit for our well-being and health. The eMOTIONAL Cities project aims to provide scientific evidence on how the natural and built urban environment shapes the neural system underlying human cognitive and emotional processing, with a perspective that also incorporates age, gender, and vulnerable groups’ specificities.

Within the eMOTIONAL Cities project, DTU will:

  1. Collect data on emotions (e.g., stress, anxiety) and mobility (activities and travels) of individuals;
  2. Develop an activity-based model sensitive to emotional states;
  3. Design and formulate an integrated conceptual framework for simulation;
  4. Develop a scenario discovery optimization methodology;
  5. Showcase the scenario discovery method in selected urban case-studies;
  6. Identify, for the selected case-studies, particular policy related robust evidence for improved urban health.
